Carbon Capture

Carbon capture use & storage is currently being researched and several demonstration projects have started or are planned in the coming years.  CO2 is captured and this either be converted with hydrogen into feedstocks to the chemical industry or into fuels.  CO2 can also be permanently captured through carbonation of recycled concrete or natural minerals. Alternatively, the captured CO2 can be permanently stored in geological features.  Examples of these projects are listed in the links below. Research into the use of algae to capture CO2 is also underway with CIMENTALGUE being an example.
